Results to June 2008
EMBROIDERING AN IDENTITY:
Conformation of craft workshops to reaffirm cultural identity, preservation of traditional crafting techniques, as well as the development of technical and operative abilities focused on indigenous women.
*Qualification to 192 persons, family leaders, o 5 indigenous groups in Sonora (yaqui, pima, mayo, cucapa and kikapoo) or an effective access to today’s market.
*Conformation of three new lines of crafts alternative to traditional, in sewing and embroidering, that affirms the cultural identity of the ethnic group that produces (pima, yaqui and mayo) and it is a craft that can enter the market in competitive conditions.
*Technical redesign, in essence, of traditional crafted models of 5 ethnic groups.
*Habilitation and edification in mutual work, of 6 artisan centers that were delivered to ethnic groups in communities for the development of their productive projects.
*This program includes the creation of representative dolls of the ethnic groups and rescue of their traditional clothing, as well la technical ability to make them, that stimulate and reaffirms their cultural identity.

INDIGENOUS ARTISAN FORUM:
Impulse to artisan union of Sonora opening routes of fair commerce:
*Generation o 7 organized groups of artisans and support to 5 existent.
*Consultation and support on different actions of the ethnic union, helping to their autonomy.
*Annual average of 16 “artisan markets” or the presence of ethnic crafts in diverse forums of society, mainly in Hermosillo, capital city in Sonora, replacing the lack of crafts market with direct sale from artisans.
*Impulse to the creation of 10 sale spots in different parts of the state and country.
*Elaboration of a printed/electronic and online catalogue, of ethnic crafts in Sonora for its diffusion.
*Search and canalization of invitation to groups.
*Attention (in the groups’ benefit) online orders and attention in our main office, to general public and public and private institutions.
*Annual “recovery fee” that constitutes our mean of intermediation to approach artisans to their potential market, reaching to an average of 260,000 pesos (26,000 US dollars), as well as the improvement of their economy by the resources obtained by direct sale in communities, because o rural tourism or orders from institutions, that are also result of the diffusion work made by Lutisuc.
ENCOUNTER WITH MY ROOTS
Actions for the diffusion of indigenous culture in Sonora, as well as sensibility of society to this valuable patrimony.
*Nearly 25,000 children of 55 different schools of Hermosillo, attended since 2002 with lectures and visits o members of ethnic groups to their schools for direct contact, with the objective that they know and value since childhood their cultural roots and respect indigenous groups that keep alive this traditions. Facilitation to schools from kinder to colleges, retirement homes, social clubs, unions, etc, of crafts, clothing, musical presentations, graphic and electronic material, for their expositions and events. Consulting to alumni and teachers.
*14 expositions of indigenous culture of Sonora, in coordination and support to cultural events organized with institutions such as INAH Center Sonora, Institute of Culture of Sonora, DIF Sonora, Popular Cultures Unit, etc, as important as the one presented in Spain (2005), that carried to that country the rich culture of native groups of Sonora.
*Conferences, website, forums and congresses, participation in contests and publications, graphic material edition.
 
2005 Exposition in Spain of Native Crafts of Sonora
PLAY & LEARN
*Artistic stimulation Workshops. To this date, we have made 8 workshops where 227 native boys and girls have participated. The results of these workshops have been 9 murals on cloth, canvas of different sizes, drawings on paper and written material, mainly directed by a professional plastic artist.

*Preservation of native languages of Sonora by design, elaboration and distribution of bilingual didactic material and workshops oriented to indigenous childhood.
Design and elaboration of 4,000 units corresponding to 6 didactic games, in different native languages and in Spanish, destined to preserve native languages in Sonora, being in progress two new games for the collection “Play & Learn”. Already published:
1.- Memorama and lottery in yaqui and Spanish languages,
2.- Memorama and lottery in pima and Spanish languages,
3.- Memorama in seri and Spanish languages,
4.- Storybook “The Shooting Star” in yaqui and Spanish languages,
5.- “Jabesa né?” Riddles and coordination exercises notebook, in yaqui and Spanish languages,
6.- Yaqui alphabet, workbook for preschool in yaqui and Spanish languages,
7.- Compact Disc “ili usi bwikam” “Boy Singing” of music for children in yaqui and Spanish languages,
Most part of these printings are delivered to native education schools or to families in those communities, to be a support as didactic material to teachers and children, and are also offered to general public. Objective:
Help preserve native language in indigenous communities and serve as diffusion material for society in general.

Youth Institute of Sonora. Participation in qualifying jury in Youth Award Sonora.
*Collaboration with graphic material in the edition of 5 publications of public and private institutions and forming part of the endorsement of 2 musical albums of traditional music.
*Accomplishment of 16 cultural events for awareness and fund raising to support our programs.
Our website www.lutisuc.org.mx it is now an important reference in information relating ethnic groups in Sonora. Several local and national printed and electronic press organizations have dedicated spaces to emphasize the work developed and more importantly native culture in Sonora. |
